Summer

FUN + FANTASTIC = FUNTASTIC

We’re working on our nature-fit sessions and diving into our plant medicine lessons. Don’t forget that each drawing session has a YouTube “draw-with-me” tutorial and an in-person class.

FAMILY

Wharehuia and Nikora are our go-to artist and have been creating their own manga and comic art since they were little.

Their younger siblings also help out and join in the sessions. Their goal is to make culture + art + fitness = fun. The curriculum was designed by their mother, a storyteller, cultural educator and curriculum developer. Together they’ve teamed up to design a program that empowers today’s youth through art with Indigenous culture as its foundation.

For Grownups

This program combines wellness, art & culture for today’s youth. It’s lovingly 🥰 designed by the Maunga Designz Crew and it’s a collaboration of a GEN-X parent and GEN-Z youth. They’re creating custom workbook, stickers, teaching guides and web experience for indigenous children.

History

We explored our core concept in 2022 with Nisqually Tribe’s Culture Program. At the time they were running a summer paddle, regalia and craft class and we wanted to offer something for the youth. The idea was to teach drawing lessons and create a new generation of storytellers. We’re grateful to Joyce (Wells) McCloud for partnering with us and the Tribe for trusting us with their treasures, children.
